While fillings have been traditionally made out of silver and gold, advancements in technology allow us to use highly dense resin to bond to your teeth. Gold/silver fillings are no longer used because of their color and mercury release(amalgam). Today, there is better material, composite resin, with the same strength and durability.
Resin can match the color of the tooth being repaired, so you will not be able to immediately notice the fillings. Silver fillings used to turn black over time, making them unsightly for many people, but resin fillings are getting rid of this stigma. The resin we use is hardened with UV light and will be just as dense as a silver filing, lasting years.
