If you are experiencing TMJ discomfort, equilibration makes chewing easier again. By treating worn down teeth, you will be able to experience comfort and ease opening and closing your mouth. At the International Center for Advanced Dentistry, the quality of your oral health is our top priority!
Equilibration is the practice of adjusting all teeth contacts to provide uniform occlusion between upper and lower teeth. This is a common solution for patients experiencing unstable bite force or TMJ-related issues.

Increased oral health
There are three steps in performing successful equilibration:
Impression: A mold of the teeth is taken to indicate the current lower and upper bite
Diagnostic: Preliminary equilibration to prepare the mold casting for the patient. Includes adding tooth-colored materials and finalizing the tooth structure.
Procedure: By eliminating high spots, it allows the muscles of the face and jaw to relax. It usually takes an hour and a half for the first treatment, then we fallow that with another half hour a few weeks later. In most cases numbing is not needed.
